This privacy policy explains how Financial Planning with Alan (“I,” “me,” or “my”) collects, uses, stores, and discloses personal information through the website financialplanningwithalan.com (the “Site”). I am committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

The type of information I collect depends on how you interact with the Site:

Information you provide directly

• Email address — when you download a free guide, email yourself calculator results, complete the Retirement Readiness Quiz, or subscribe to updates.
• Calculator and quiz inputs — the figures you enter into financial calculators or quiz answers. These are processed in your browser and are not stored on my servers unless you choose to email your results, in which case only the summary output is included in the email.
• Booking information — when you book a discovery call through Microsoft Bookings, Microsoft collects your name, email, and any details you provide in the booking form. That information is governed by Microsoft’s Privacy Statement.

Information collected automatically

• Analytics data — I use Google Analytics (GA4) and Vercel Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site. This may include pages viewed, time on site, referring source, device type, browser, approximate geographic location (city level), and interactions such as button clicks. Google Analytics uses cookies; Vercel Analytics does not.
• Performance data — Vercel Speed Insights collects anonymous page-load metrics to help me keep the Site fast.
• Server logs — standard web server logs may record your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. These logs are used for security and debugging and are not linked to your identity.

3. How I use your information

I use the information collected for the following purposes:

• To send you the calculator results, quiz results, or free guides you requested.
• To send occasional educational emails about financial planning topics relevant to the content you engaged with (for example, superannuation tips if you used a super calculator). You can unsubscribe from these at any time.
• To understand how visitors use the Site so I can improve content, user experience, and performance.
• To respond to enquiries or booking requests.
• To maintain the security and integrity of the Site.

I will not use your personal information for purposes other than those listed above without your consent, unless required or authorised by law.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. While I strive to protect your information, I cannot guarantee absolute security.

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information I hold about you.
• Correct any information that is inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete.
• Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting me directly.
• Request deletion of your personal information where it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected.
• Complain if you believe your privacy has been breached. I will investigate and respond to complaints within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with my response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
